Reflexology with Aromatherapy Oils
Reflexology is a gentle, non-intrusive, complementary health therapy which works on the feet to help promote well being in the whole body.
Reflexology can be used to complement conventional medical treatment, however it is not intended to be a subsitute.
By applying gentle pressure using the thumbs, fingers and hands to specific reflex areas on the feet, subtle changes can be detected. By working gently on these reflex points the corresponding organ or system of the body may be affected.
Aromatherapy Oils
To enhance your treatment, Heidi will use essential aromatherapy oils which she will individually blend to suit a clients specific needs.
Aromatherapy is an ancient practice that utilises aromatic essential oils that have been extracted from different flowers, plants and herbs. They each have their own individual therapeutic properties, which can be used alone or blended to assist in promoting a feeling of health and emotional well being.
History of Reflexology
The roots of Reflexology are found in many different cultures dating back to ancient Egypt, India and China.
Modern Reflexology can be traced to the early 1900’s, when Dr William Fitzgerald first discovered the anaesthetising effects of applying pressure to certain areas of the hands and feet.
He studied his theory in depth and named his findings ‘zone therapy’. In the 1930’s, Eunice Ingham further developed ‘zone therapy’ into modern day Reflexology.Reflexology today
In the 21st century, Reflexology is recognised as a complementary and holistic therapy, working on the whole person, not just the prevailing symptoms.
Many doctors, consultants, and other health care professionals recognise Reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy.
What happens when I go for a treatment?
After a full medical and lifestyle consultation has taken place, Heidi will make sure you are in a comfortable position lying down on the couch. After cleansing your feet she will blend some suitable oils and begin the treatment with a gentle foot massage.
Heidi will then work through all the body systems on your feet, spending more time in areas related to your own specific needs.
After a few treatments, your body may respond in a very definite way. Many people report a sense of well being and relaxation with a more positive outlook on life.
Once you have completed a course of treatments, many people find it beneficial to have periodic top up sessions to help maintain health and well being.
